"Un Canto a Galicia" is a song by Julio Iglesias and taken from the album of the same name released in 1972. The song happens to be his first major international hit reaching #1 in Latin America, Spain and Holland and making the top 10 in several European countries. The song is a tribute to his roots (Julio's father was born in Galicia, a province located in the northwestern part of Spain) and is not sung in Spanish but rather in Galician, a language derived from Latin closely related to Portuguese.
